Chinese Fire Cupping
Chinese fire cupping has been a part of Chinese medicine for over 2,500 years. The original treatment included the use of an animal horn as the cup, however, during later years, brass, ceramic, glass and bamboo were used as cups. These materials became the alternative method of treatment.
The mechanics of fire cupping is using fire, and oxygen is then consumed within a thick fire tempered glass cup. This creates a negative pressure vacuum, which when placed directly on to the back, its draws the skin, connective tissue and surface muscle into the cup. This method is excellent for the removal of toxins, and metabolic waste that is trapped within the muscle tissues.
This treatment is also beneficial to the large thick sheet of connective tissue, known as thoracolumbar aponeurosis. our back and core muscles connect through this fascia plane, which can be the cause of tightness and pain in the lower back. The heat and pressure from the cups, helps to relax this tissue through a process called trixotropy. The connective tissue is a colloid, which means it melts with heat and changes state from being solid, to gel. Adhesions, knotts and tears can all be released with this treatment, allowing the soft tissue to return t its normal state.
This treatment is an excellent therapy for clients who suffer from back pain, and also aids the breaking up and reduction in appearance of cellulite. Other benefits of this treatment include:
- Remove Stress
- Re – energizes
- Improves circulation
- Sports injury, speeds up recovery time
- Lymphatic drainage

- Muscle / Joint / Nerve issues
- Heart / Circulation
